06

Lost or stolen phone

Do not chase the assailant. Go somewhere safe, block your device, phone line, bank accounts and active sessions; change your passwords and file a police report. Use location tracking only to provide information to the authorities.

07

Lost documents

Report the loss or theft, keep the police report number and contact your country's consulate. Keep digital copies separate from the originals.

08

Card or Pix

Block it immediately through the app or the bank's service center. Keep receipts, times and recipient details; notify the bank before the dispute deadline expires.

09

public medical care

A foreign tourist can use the SUS emergency network free of charge. Bring identification if available and call 192 if you cannot travel to a facility.

10

Walking and waiting for transport

At night, avoid empty streets, shortcuts and long routes you do not know. Request a taxi or rideshare from a safe place, check the driver, license plate and destination, and do not agree to last-minute changes outside the app.

11

Beach, Carnival and crowds

Do not leave your phone under a towel while you swim. Carry only what you need and use zipped pockets or a crossbody bag at blocos, on crowded transport and at events. Agree on a meeting point and check the event's rules about glass and other items.

12

Drinks, meeting people and scams

Keep your drink in sight and do not accept open drinks from strangers. If you feel unusually drowsy or confused, tell the staff, do not leave with someone you do not know, and seek medical care.

13

Plan how you will get there and back

Decide how you will get back before going out, share your plan with someone you trust, and save your accommodation address, contacts and the emergency numbers 190, 192 and 193. If something makes you uncomfortable, go inside a safe place and change your plans.

For a medical emergency, call 192 (SAMU); for fires, rescues or salvage, call 193; for floods, landslides or other public hazards, call 199 (Civil Defence). Give the exact address, a nearby landmark and what happened. These are Brazil-wide emergency numbers; use 190 for crimes in progress or immediate risks requiring the Military Police.
