A waterfall in the Camorim sector
Cachoeira do Camorim is part of Pedra Branca State Park's natural attractions and is listed on the Transcarioca Trail along the Section 06 corridor. I distinguish it from two nearby sites: Açude do Camorim is a historic reservoir where swimming is prohibited, and Véu da Noiva is a separate waterfall associated with the Circuito das Águas.
The outing combines forest and water with a walk over natural terrain. Moisture, mud, water flow and traction on the rocks change from day to day. Reviews or photos from another season do not guarantee today's trail or pool conditions.
Swimming, water and rules
INEA identifies Cachoeira do Barata in Piraquara as the park's only waterfall open for swimming. So I do not promote swimming at Cachoeira do Camorim or treat other visitors' behavior as permission. Any new specific INEA rule should be verified before this guide is changed.
Do not drink untreated water, jump in or assume you know the depth: it can vary with flow, sediment and location. After rain or a storm in the watershed, the water can change even if the sky is clear where you are. Leave the stream if water rises quickly, its color changes suddenly, branches come downstream or the current strengthens.
Access, hours and duration
The reference entrance is Núcleo Camorim, at 2,118 Estrada do Camorim. INEA's general administrative hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8 am–5 pm; this does not confirm that every trail is open or specify the latest start time. Confirm access, route conditions and any park notices before traveling.
I do not list a separate distance or duration for this waterfall because the sources reviewed do not establish an official track from the park entrance. INEA's roughly four-kilometer figure refers to the trail to Açude do Camorim, not a verified distance to Cachoeira do Camorim. Do not conflate the two.
For the hike, I bring drinking water, grippy shoes, insect repellent, sun protection and a light rain layer. I do not assume there are restrooms, mobile service, universal accessibility or facilities by the waterfall. If there has been heavy rain, an alert is in effect or the ground is slippery, I choose another plan.
What to combine it with
Start by learning about Camorim Park Centre and its access. You can also read the history of Açude do Camorim Reservoir and compare it with Cachoeira Véu da Noiva Waterfall, without assuming that being in the same sector means the rules are the same. The Section 06 is a 13.4 km, high-difficulty traverse; it is not a short hike to add at the last minute.
