Camorim Park Centre

I will help you find one of the entrances to Pedra Branca State Park. Camorim brings together forest, water history and mountain trails; the plan is quite different if you visit the entrance area or hike to the reservoir.

🔎 Explorer challenge: follow the story of water

Before looking at the forest, find the Camorim entrance and the reservoir high in the massif on a map. What signs about water collection and treatment might be explained at the park sector?

One entrance, several ways to experience the park

INEA describes Núcleo Camorim as a sector with interpretive signs about the water collection and treatment system, as well as a trail of about four kilometers to Açude do Camorim. This is a reference for the listed trail, not a guarantee of duration, daily difficulty or terrain conditions.

The published institutional address is 2,118 Estrada do Camorim, in Camorim, Jacarepaguá. The park's general administrative hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 8 am–5 pm. I do not assume that visitor services, parking, restrooms, water availability or the latest trail entry time are confirmed. These details can change; check with INEA before setting out.

What to expect on the trail

The hike climbs into the massif through Atlantic Forest. Even if the listed distance seems manageable, I do not present it as an easy outing without checking elevation, trail surface, mud and notices. Arrive early, allow time to return within park hours and bring enough water. Natural water sources are not confirmed to be safe to drink.

Açude do Camorim, one of the sector's highlights, was built in 1908 as part of a water-supply system. Swimming is prohibited and the water is not fit for consumption. The sector is also associated with the Circuito das Águas and Cachoeira Véu da Noiva; permission to swim at a waterfall cannot be inferred from the reservoir rule—check each activity separately.

My suggested plan

First I confirm opening, entry cutoff and conditions with park staff. Then I choose between a water-interpretation visit and a hike to the reservoir, without adding other attractions just because they “seem close.” If it has rained heavily, an alert is in effect or a storm is forecast, I change plans. Inside the park, I stay on marked trails, avoid shortcuts and return in daylight.

What to combine it with

For a nature and heritage outing, read the guide to Açude do Camorim Reservoir and learn about Circuito das Águas and Véu da Noiva. If you are planning a demanding day in the mountains, read about Section 06: it is a long traverse, not a casual extension of a visit to the park sector.
