A restaurant that becomes an evening out
Nosso is neither a nightclub nor a quick-stop bar. It is a contemporary food and cocktail house on Rua Maria Quitéria, opposite Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz. The official site speaks of “the house”, and the menu clearly separates eating and drinking experiences: I would allow time for dinner, a cocktail and an unhurried evening before moving to the next stop.
The Michelin Guide describes three floors with different atmospheres: a bar on the first, a dining room on the second and a terrace above. It associates the contemporary fusion cuisine with chef Bruno Katz and cocktails with Daniel Estevan. Its examples include glazed octopus with fried rice, kewpie, moyashi and nirá, and Tacacá Sour with jambu, tucupi, cupuaçu and lime. These are guide references, not a guarantee that every dish is available daily.
The menu: food and cocktails at the same table
The official drinks menu features creations with Brazilian ingredients and unusual combinations. Published cocktails include Sururu Milk Punch with cachaça, dendê oil, pineapple with coriander and rapadura, and Balacobaco with gin, pineapple, chamomile and ginger ale. Classics such as Negroni and Old Fashioned also appear. The menu changes: I treat these examples as a sample of the venue’s style, not a promise of permanent availability.
It is worth opening the food menu and current dishes before booking; the official website keeps menus updated. I would choose a starter to share, then decide whether to have a main or remain at the bar. If someone in the group prefers not to drink, the outing still works as dinner.
The spaces and the actual experience
Traveller reviews mention the different floors and say the atmosphere changes by space: some prefer the upper dining room because it feels quieter. Recent comments praise the decor and friendly service, while others report delays or less balanced cocktails. To me, this is a more honest expectation than selling a guaranteed flawless night.
Tripadvisor showed 4.2/5 from 290 reviews in the search I reviewed; that figure changes and combines different experiences. I focus more on dates and details than the average: it is a busy venue whose food-and-bar concept can feel different depending on the table, time and service team.
How I would organise it
The venue opens Tuesday to Saturday until 12:30 am and Sunday until 11 pm; Monday is not listed as a service day. Official booking rules are specific: a maximum of eight people and only until 7:30 pm; bookings are for the mezzanine, with a ten-minute grace period and email confirmation. The first floor and terrace operate first come, first served. For a group larger than eight, split the plan or contact the venue directly.
From Nossa Senhora da Paz station you are already nearby. After dinner, Ipanema is walkable for continuing the evening, but I would choose the next stop before leaving if the group wants to stay together.
My Ernestinho tip
Book and request a table suited to your plans: a long dinner differs from a round of cocktails. If a particular dish or space matters to you, ask whether it is available that evening and read the booking policy before confirming.
