What we know about the structure
INEA identifies Ponte do Governo in Realengo as a visible part of the Guandu-linked conveyance system and gives its approximate length as 200 metres. The same note describes the system’s metropolitan scale: about 34 kilometres, including several underground sections and visible structures in the West Zone.
The sources reviewed do not confirm a specific date for this canal bridge, a public viewing point or permission to access it. I also do not assume that every visible structure in the system is part of a recreational route. It is an industrial and engineering heritage structure whose main purpose is water conveyance.
A common point of confusion
The name can be confused with Rua do Governo, the address for Núcleo Piraquara. The park sector is open to visitors and has its own information about hours and services. Ponte do Governo is a separate structure; I do not use it as a Google Maps destination or as a stop during a visit to the park sector.
A way to read the landscape
Where forest meets infrastructure, environmental and urban history becomes visible. The conveyance system helps explain how Rio’s water needs changed and why protecting watersheds and springs matters. You do not need to approach the structure to understand its relationship with the city.

What to combine it with
I would read this story alongside the guide to Guandu and Pedra Branca aqueducts. For a specific outing in the area, visit Núcleo Piraquara using its formal entrance and checking its notices. Do not use the park entrance address to locate this structure.
