Bar, music and tribute
The venue brings Zeca Pagodinho’s world into a bar-restaurant, with visual references to his career and samba. It is not a samba-school hall or street circle: it has tables, a stage, menu and programme. It is inside Vogue Square in Barra da Tijuca.
Food and pagode
The kitchen centres on Brazilian and bar classics. The venue has highlighted feijoada, rice fritters, oxtail empadas and shared snacks. The menu can change, but the idea is to accompany music with food and beer rather than stop for one quick drink.
An organised evening
The group advertises live music, but each branch and date has its own programme. I check who is playing and book around the show. The commercial complex provides parking and nearby options; Barra is far from Copacabana and Ipanema, so I calculate the return from the outset.
My Ernestinho tip
I call or check the programme before booking to find out whether the music charge is included and when the group plays. I also calculate the return from Barra before sitting down to dinner.
