The music decides the date
Carioca da Gema is a Lapa venue dedicated to samba and live Brazilian music. The programme changes by day and artist, so I choose the show first and organise the rest of the evening afterwards. The website distinguishes opening time from each performance’s start; Fridays and Saturdays may have more than one music session.
How to enjoy it
The venue offers tables and a dance floor. If you want a seat, check reservations for that date: official information says tables are held until 9 pm. I arrive early to enter, order and settle in before the music. I recommend it as the main plan rather than a quick stop between bars.
If your plans change, the official refund policy lets you request a ticket cancellation up to 24 hours before the show; tickets cannot be exchanged for another date. Send the request by email with your purchase details within the stated deadline.
What to expect
Visitor comments often praise the atmosphere and music; on busy dates the space can become crowded and service may vary. For conversation, request a table away from the dance floor. For samba, move closer to the stage and accept that volume is part of the plan.
My Ernestinho tip
If you want a table, do not arrive right at 9 pm: the venue says reservations are held until then. I buy the show ticket first and coordinate dinner and transport afterwards.
