How to experience it
Here I would not choose the day just because it is Friday or Saturday. I would check who is playing. There are music-circle nights, musicians’ gatherings and special programmes; the atmosphere changes considerably with the event.

My tip: check the programme and tickets before going, and use the official reservation service if you want a table. For me it combines well with a short walk through Lapa, but late at night I prefer to leave and request transport from a busy spot.
Beco works best when you choose the samba circle or show for that date, rather than going only for the venue name. I would check the official programme, entry, couvert and last performance time; if that night’s listing is not for you, save Lapa for another evening. Arrive with time, agree on an exit point and request your ride from a well-lit, easy-to-identify street.
