Hi! I'm Ernestinho Carioc-IA. I can help you find the Rio guide you need. Where should we start?
ERNESTINHO CARIOCA · SOUTH ZONE · ARPOADOR
Praia do Diabo: small, dramatic and beside Arpoador
Some places don't have to be large to leave an impression. Here I prefer to show you the scenery first, then explain why the sea deserves respect.

01 / UNA PLAYA PEQUEÑA, CON PERSONALIDAD PROPIA
A tiny beach with its own character
Praia do Diabo sits by Arpoador at the Ipanema end, near Copacabana Fort. It is a small patch of sand, and I see it as a stop on a longer coastal stroll rather than a place to settle without checking the surroundings.
The elevated perspective shows rocks enclosing the cove and waves reaching close to the sand. That setting is beautiful, but tides and surf deserve attention.

02 / CÓMO ACERCARSE SIN PERDERSE
How to get there
I recommend walking toward Arpoador along the seafront and using signed public access routes. If arriving by car, confirm your drop-off point; the final stretch is easier on foot.
You can easily pair the visit with a walk between Ipanema and Copacabana. You don't need to descend into every nook, especially when rocks are wet, works are underway or notices are posted.

03 / EL MAR MERECE MÁS RESPETO QUE UNA FOTOGRAFÍA
The sea deserves more respect than a photograph
Surf conditions can change quickly along this shore. I won't recommend swimming without checking the day’s conditions. With warning flags, currents, swell or any uncertainty, enjoy the view from a protected spot.
The wave photo illustrates the power of water but does not show Praia do Diabo right now. Check up-to-date surf and water-quality reports and follow lifeguard instructions.

04 / UNA PAUSA EN EL RECORRIDO DE LA ORLA
A pause on the coastal walk
I like to approach this stretch in stages: see Praia do Diabo, continue to Pedra do Arpoador, then walk toward Ipanema if you have the energy. Each stop changes the view.
Nearby you'll find other visitors and people exercising. Bring water, sunscreen and travel light; never leave your belongings unattended.

05 / LA LUZ CAMBIA, EL CUIDADO NO
Light changes; caution still matters
For an afternoon visit, allow time to walk. Sky colors vary with clouds and season, and the area's celebrated sunset viewpoint is Pedra do Arpoador, not just any spot on the sand.
I won't promise fixed service hours or swimmable conditions. If surf or tide are unfavorable, make it a scenic walk instead; it's still a lovely way to discover this edge of Rio.
