Naturism and unspoiled nature

Abricó Beach

Located inside Grumari Municipal Park, it is Rio de Janeiro's only officially designated naturist/nudist beach.

01

Used by naturists since the 1940s and promoted by figures such as Luz del Fuego in the 1950s.

02

ANAbricó says it is generally present on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when weather and tides allow. Nudity is required on those days; clothing is optional on weekdays. Check current rules and the association’s presence before setting out.

How to plan your visit

A beach with its own rules

Abricó is associated with naturism in the Grumari area. Before going, confirm current access rules and conditions; naturism requires respect for other people and local regulations.

Look after the surroundings

Plan how to get there and back before setting out, and avoid leaving litter or straying beyond permitted areas. Sea conditions, weather and access restrictions can change. Also check municipal water-quality information before entering.

Sea conditions, water quality, access and restrictions can change. Check official notices and local signs on the same day; do not use this guide as a real-time report.

Abricó: a naturist visit with clear ground rules

The exact spot changes the plan

Abricó is Rio’s beach associated with naturism. Go only if you are comfortable with that setting and respect local etiquette: other people’s bodies are not an attraction or permission to take photographs. Protect privacy, keep a respectful distance and follow signs; confirm which section is designated for naturism.

Check today’s sea conditions; do not assume

The ocean can bring strong waves and currents. Check INEA for bathing-water quality, then separately use flags, warnings and lifeguard advice to decide about swimming. With storm swell, heavy rain, lightning or a difficult exit, stay on land. Sunshine does not mean a safe sea.

Facilities, company and care

Plan a self-sufficient visit: bring water, sun protection and a rubbish bag; do not count on toilets, showers, shade, food or rentals. Discuss naturism with children beforehand and respect your family’s comfort; water supervision must still be direct. Access may not suit every mobility need. 🐕 Check pet rules for the protected area.

Get there, enjoy the visit and plan the return

Abricó is far from the central Metro network; check your route by car, taxi or public transport and plan the return before leaving. Do not assume parking or constant mobile signal; agree on a meeting point and bring enough battery for maps. Pair it with Grumari only if access and time allow. EC tip: respect the protected landscape and take everything you brought back with you.

Waves, wind, storm swell, sand, weather and bathing-water quality change. This page is not a live report: check the current bulletin and signs on the day.

Verified local context

Respect before the photo

Naturism calls for practical respect: do not photograph or film identifiable visitors without consent. Check current area and local association rules before visiting; this guide is not a substitute for up-to-date access rules.
