What you will find

Forte da Laje seems to float at Guanabara Bay’s entrance, between Urca and Fortaleza de Santa Cruz.

There are no regular tourist visits. It can be seen from Urca, Sugarloaf Mountain, boats and Fortaleza de Santa Cruz.

The rock was used from the colonial period as part of the defensive system laying crossfire over Guanabara’s entrance.

Its extraordinary position on a small rock in the middle of the channel.
