Espaço Cultural da Marinha brings together some of Rio de Janeiro’s most surprising naval attractions. In one place you can enter a submarine, discover a warship, see a historic helicopter and board trips around the bay.
Main attractions include Submarino-Museu Riachuelo, Navio-Museu Bauru, the Sea King helicopter, Nau dos Descobrimentos and other historic equipment. Visits to Ilha Fiscal and boat trips also depart from here.
History
The venue belongs to the Brazilian Navy and was created to preserve and share the country’s maritime history. Its vessels and equipment help explain the evolution of navigation, naval defence and sailors’ lives.
