Academia Brasileira de Letras, known as ABL, is one of Brazil’s most important literary institutions. Its historic headquarters reproduces the Petit Trianon of Versailles.

History
It was founded in 1897 by writers and intellectuals, including Machado de Assis, its first president. The institution has forty members and works to preserve and promote Brazilian language and literature.
