How a Brazilian rodízio works
You pay a fixed price for a succession of dishes; drinks and desserts are usually charged separately.
🥩 Brazilian steakhouse
Cuts served from skewers, a buffet and side dishes. Ideal for sampling Brazilian meats.
🍕 Pizza
Small savory and sweet servings come around to your table. Ask whether you can request a flavor.
🍣 Sushi
A succession of sushi pieces, temaki and hot dishes; check which premium items are excluded.
🫕 Small plates or fondue
Various formats for sharing. Confirm the duration, refills and included drinks.
Your first experience, step by step
1. 💳 Before you sit down
Ask the price per person, whether there is a time-based offer and what is included. Drinks, desserts, coffee and the 10% service charge are usually extra.
2. 🟢 Understand the signal
In many churrascarias, a green token means “keep serving” and red means “I want a break”. You can turn it over as often as needed.
3. 🥗 Go easy on the buffet
Try salads and side dishes, but leave room. Bread, potatoes, sushi and pasta fill you up quickly before the special cuts arrive.
4. 🥩 Choose and ask
You do not have to accept everything. Ask the name of the cut, request your preferred doneness and ask for another serving of what you really enjoyed.
5. 🍖 Sample strategically
Start with small portions. Picanha, fraldinha, maminha, costela and cupim have different textures; save your appetite so you can compare them.
6. 🔴 Take a break
Turn the token to red, chat and decide whether you want more. A rodízio is not a competition; you can finish when you are satisfied.
7. 🧾 Check the bill
Check the number of diners, drinks, desserts, couvert and service charge before paying. The suggested tip should be clearly shown.
